Regulations and legal requirements

Accident prevention regulations BGV a1:

Gases that are hazardous to health must be rejected at the point of origin.

Safty course letter for vehocles maintenance (BGI 550):

The exhaust gases from combustion engines must be dissipated safely. This is especially true when running while stationary.

Safety rules for vehicles repair (BGR 157):

Workplaces must be set up in such a way that the air the insured person breathes is kept free of flammable and health-endangering gases, vapors, dust and smoke.

Abstract from the TRGS 554:

1. Diesel engine emissions are toxicologically questionable and must therefore be extracted.

2. Test reports for AU measurements.
When using an exhaust funnel, the exhaust gases should flow into the intake opening as straight as possible. The funnel must therefore have appropriate adjustment options and be optimally positioned by the user. The suction power is calculated using the following formula:

V = Vh x n x 0,0363 x S

V = required suction volume flow [m³/h]
Vh = engine capacity
n = uncoiling speed [min-1]
S = Safety factor for secondary air = 1,2
0,0363 = physical conversion factor

However, a volume flow of at least 600 m³/h must be guaranteed.

3. If existing exhaust gas extraction systems fall below the reference values by more than 10%, the exhaust gas extraction system must be repaired.
